How to Find a Toy Manufacturer in China

How to Find a Toy Manufacturer in China

Four routes, one sorting question, and an honest note about where we can help.

385,341 items in stock 5,233 factories 1 carton minimum order $0.84/kg freight from

Open prices per unit and per carton. No registration, no sales rep, minimum order total 2,000 CNY (≈ $313), no company required — you can buy as an individual. Both prices — per unit and per carton — are open before you order.

Four routes: trade fairs, online marketplaces, sourcing agents, and catalogues that name the factory behind each product. Finding a name is easy; finding out whether that name owns a mould is the part that decides your price and your minimum, and one question settles it — which products do you own the tooling for. An honest note about scope: we work with Chinese factories, 5,233 of them named across 385,341 items. If you need manufacturing in Europe or North America, this page can still help you sort candidates, but we are not the supplier for it.

Before anything else, the honest part: we are a wholesale supplier working with Chinese factories. If your search has to end in the European Union or the United States, the method below still applies but we are not the company at the end of it.

With that said — here is how finding a manufacturer actually works, and the mistake that costs the most.

First, honestly

Where We Can and Cannot Help

We are a wholesale supplier working with Chinese factories: 5,233 of them are named across the 385,341 items in our catalogue. That is the scope.

If your requirement is manufacturing inside the European Union or North America — for a label, a tariff position or a lead time — the sorting method on this page still works, but the company at the end of your search will not be us. We would rather say that on the first screen than after your enquiry.

The mechanics

Fairs, Marketplaces, Agents, Catalogues

Trade fairs. You meet people and handle the goods, which no screen replaces. The cost is travel, time and preparation, and the season decides when you can go at all.

Online marketplaces. Fastest way to learn that a product exists and roughly what it costs. Full of companies that resell and describe themselves as factories, because the word is not protected.

Sourcing agents. Hands in China, local language, factory visits. Paid a percentage whether the goods turn out right or not — not a criticism, just the incentive you are hiring.

Catalogues that name the factory. The desk version: you see the maker before you contact anyone. Ours names one on every card, which also means a model that sold can be reordered from the same source rather than from something that looks similar.

One question

«Which Products Do You Own the Tooling For?»

Three kinds of company will call themselves a factory, and this question separates them in one reply.

The mould owner answers with a list, often with mould numbers. Lowest price on their own items, no flexibility beyond them.

The assembler explains that they buy components and assemble. Flexible on sets and packaging; someone else’s margin is already inside the price.

The trading company redirects to how quickly they can quote. Genuinely useful and fast, and you are paying for the speed.

None of the three is the wrong answer — the wrong thing is not knowing which one you are talking to. Our Shantou factory page goes through this in more detail.

Before money moves

What to Ask, and What to Read Without Asking

Ask for the product number on the document. A test report tied to a company rather than to an item proves nothing about the item you are buying.

Ask the minimum in pieces, and the carton contents. «Flexible» is not a number.

Ask what changes without a new mould. The answer tells you how much of your own product you can actually have.

And read what is already public. Price per piece and per carton, carton quantity, factory name, and an empty certificate field where nothing was supplied. A company that publishes all four has committed to them.

About us

The Numbers Behind This Page

The catalogue. 385,341 items from 5,233 factories, with the price published per piece and per carton, the carton quantity stated and the factory named on every card. 44,336 items carry at least one test certificate on file from the factory; on the rest the field is shown empty.

The production side. Our manufacturing partner is Yifeng Group (艺丰集团) in Chenghai, Shantou — the toy district officially designated «China Toys and Gifts City». The group has worked in Chenghai since 1992. Its first plant, Shifeng Culture Development Co., Ltd, dates from 1992 and runs more than 35,000 m² of production area with an annual output of USD 60 M; a second site, Huabo Smart Living Technology Co., Ltd, was established in 2018. The group owns its own brands, among them FEIFEITU and BABY SIX.

A laboratory in the same ecosystem. AJT Testing Services Limited, founded in 2007, is a third-party testing laboratory historically linked with the group’s founding family and working in the same Chenghai ecosystem — and the first private laboratory in eastern Guangdong to receive the Chinese national CCC accreditation for toy testing. That is why testing on a specific model can be arranged close to the factory.

The showroom. Yifeng Group (艺丰集团) keeps a permanent 15,000 m² showroom in Shantou with more than 500,000 toy samples on display — goods can be inspected in person before they go into a batch. The full company profile, including audits and accreditations, is on our factory partner page.

Where we sit. Offices in Yiwu and Shantou, a consolidation warehouse in Guangzhou, acceptance inspection by our partner Yifeng at its warehouse in Chenghai with photo and video before cartons are taped, and published transit ranges for 62 destinations.

What we give

The Finding, Already Done

385,341 items, 5,233 factories named, prices published per piece and per carton, carton quantities stated, and 44,336 items with test documents on file. Open without registration.

The minimum is one factory carton of one model, order total from 2,000 CNY, so a candidate factory can be tested with one carton instead of a production run. That is the cheapest way to find out whether a maker suits you.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find a toy manufacturer?
Four routes. Trade fairs, where you meet people and touch goods but have to travel and prepare. Online marketplaces, which are fast and full of resellers presenting themselves as factories. Sourcing agents, who have hands on the ground and are paid a percentage regardless of outcome. And catalogues that name the factory behind each item — ours names one on all 385,341 products, across 5,233 factories. None of the four tells you by itself whether a company owns a mould.
What is the one question that sorts manufacturers from resellers?
Which products do you own the tooling for. A mould owner answers with a list and often with the mould number. An assembler explains that they buy components. A trading company changes the subject to how fast they can quote. The answer decides your price floor, your minimum and how much can be changed about the product.
How do I verify a manufacturer before paying?
Ask for the product number on the document, not the company name — a test report tied to a factory rather than an item is close to worthless. Ask what the minimum is in pieces and what the carton contains. Ask what changes without a new mould and what needs one. And check what is published without asking: a company that states price per piece, carton quantity and the factory name in public has less room to change the story later.
Do I need to visit China to find a manufacturer?
No, and the trip is worth taking for a different reason — touching the goods. The finding itself is now mostly done at a desk. Our catalogue is open without registration and names the maker on every card, so you can see who makes what before contacting anybody, and reorder from the same source later.
Can you make a toy to my own design?
For new geometry a mould has to be cut, and that is the one case where the factory relationship genuinely matters. Our partner group in Chenghai has three production sites and its own engineering department; AJT, an ISO/IEC 17025 testing laboratory historically linked with the group’s founding family, works in the same Chenghai ecosystem. Most of what people mean by own brand, though, needs no mould: a printed box, colour within the factory palette, set contents and pad printing all change without one.
What are the standard minimums from a manufacturer?
Straight from a factory, usually a production run — often several thousand pieces of one model, because the line has to be set up. Through us it is one factory carton of one model; minimum order total 2,000 CNY (≈ $313); the median carton is 84 pieces.
Where are Chinese toy factories located?
Three clusters that specialise. Chenghai in Shantou for plastic toys — cars, blasters, figures, construction. Guangzhou for electronics, radio-controlled and ride-ons. Yiwu for small goods, party items and novelties. Which cluster matters more than which company, because it decides what can be made well at all.
