Toy Cars Made in China

Toy Cars Made in China — Five Kinds, Compared

Die-cast, friction, plastic, radio-controlled, ride-on. Different trades, different prices.

385,341 items in stock 5,233 factories 1 carton minimum order $0.84/kg freight from

Open prices per unit and per carton. No registration, no sales rep, minimum order total 2,000 CNY (≈ $313), no company required — you can buy as an individual. Both prices — per unit and per carton — are open before you order.

Five different trades share the word «car». Plastic and friction vehicles sit in our cars section — 52,801 items at a median ¥8.60 a piece. Radio-controlled is its own section — 28,004 items at ¥28.80, because a radio, a motor and a battery are a different bill of materials. Ride-ons are dearer again at a median ¥49.00. Freight separates them too: cars run 1.67 times their real weight on air freight and radio-controlled 1.99. The minimum is one factory carton of one model, order total from 2,000 CNY.

A toy car can be a ¥3 friction vehicle or a ¥300 radio-controlled crawler, and the two have almost nothing in common except the word. They are made by different factories, in different districts, and they sell to different shelves.

Here are the five kinds side by side, with what each costs to buy and to move.

Compared

Five Trades, One Word

Die-cast metal. Sold on weight and detail. Dense, so it ships well for its value — the one kind of car where freight is not the problem. Detail on our die-cast page.

Pull-back and friction. The cheap end: no batteries, no electronics, nothing to fail in a shop. This is where the till-shelf car lives.

Plain plastic vehicles. Trucks, diggers, emergency vehicles, often large. Cheap per piece, bulky per carton.

Radio-controlled. A separate trade and a separate section: 28,004 items, median ¥28.80. Made in Guangzhou rather than Chenghai. Our radio-controlled page covers it.

Ride-ons. Median ¥49.00. Priced, packed and shipped closer to furniture than to toys.

Measured

What Each Kind Costs

Cars and vehicles: 52,801 items, median ¥8.60 a piece. Radio-controlled and powered: 28,004 items, median ¥28.80. Ride-on vehicles: median ¥49.00.

The spread inside cars is wide, because a friction car and a detailed die-cast model are different objects. 52% of the whole catalogue is under ¥10 a piece, and the friction end of cars sits comfortably in that band.

The other half

What They Cost to Move

Freight is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Measured on our own cartons: cars 1.67 times real weight on air, radio-controlled 1.99.

Die-cast is the useful exception: metal is dense, so a carton of die-cast pays closer to its real weight than almost anything else in the catalogue. For large plastic vehicles and ride-ons the opposite is true, and sea is the only honest mode.

The calculator takes your own carton dimensions.

Worth knowing

Anything With a Battery Is a Different Order

Batteries change three things: the certification question, the freight rules and the failure rate in your shop.

On certification, the relevant standard for battery-powered toys is EN IEC62115, and 9,097 items in our catalogue carry it. On freight, lithium cells are restricted cargo and the mode may be decided for you. On returns, an electronics item fails in ways a moulded car cannot.

None of that argues against radio-controlled — it is a high-margin shelf. It argues for deciding it deliberately rather than by accident.

How it works

One Carton per Model

Carton quantities differ sharply here: small friction cars come 96 or 120 to a carton, radio-controlled often 36, ride-ons as few as 8. Every card states the quantity and both prices, and names the factory. Minimum order total 2,000 CNY (≈ $313).

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of toy cars come from China?
Five that matter commercially. Die-cast metal models, prized for weight and detail. Pull-back and friction vehicles, the cheap end that needs no batteries. Plain plastic vehicles, including large trucks and construction. Radio-controlled, which is a separate trade with a separate bill of materials. And ride-ons, which a child sits on and which are priced and shipped like furniture.
How much do toy cars cost wholesale from China?
Our cars and vehicles section holds 52,801 items at a median ¥8.60 a piece. Radio-controlled is a separate section, 28,004 items at a median ¥28.80. Ride-on vehicles run to a median ¥49.00. Across the whole catalogue 52% of items are under ¥10, and the friction and pull-back end of cars sits in that band.
Why is radio-controlled so much more expensive?
Because it is not a moulding problem, it is an electronics problem: a transmitter, a receiver, a motor, a battery and a charger, each with its own cost and its own failure mode. It is also made in a different cluster — Guangzhou rather than Chenghai — and minimums from factories tend to be higher there.
Which are cheapest to ship?
Measured on our own cartons, cars run about 1.67 times their real weight on air freight and radio-controlled 1.99. Neither is as bad as inflatables at 2.61, but both are worse than keychains at 1.09. Die-cast is the exception within cars: metal is dense, so it pays closer to its real weight, which makes it unusually freight-efficient for its value.
Do toy cars need certificates?
That depends on your market, not on the toy. Where the factory supplied testing, the card shows it — across the catalogue 44,336 items of 385,341 carry at least one, EN71 on 36,137 and ASTM F963 on 24,034. For radio-controlled the extra question is the battery and the charger, which is what EN IEC62115 covers; 9,097 items in our catalogue carry it.
What is the minimum order for toy cars?
One factory carton of one model; minimum order total 2,000 CNY (≈ $313). Carton sizes differ sharply by kind: small friction cars come 96 or 120 to a carton, radio-controlled often 36, and ride-ons as few as 8. The quantity is stated on every card.
How long does delivery take?
Production 15–30 days, up to 45 in peak season, then 3–5 days for consolidation and acceptance inspection. Freight after that: air 1–15 days, rail 12–25 where a rail link exists, sea 2–45. For ride-ons and large radio-controlled, sea is the realistic mode.
